    REGISTRATION, HOUSING AND ABSTRACT INFORMATION WILL BE
    AVAILABLE at the conference web site at http://www.bio.tamu.edu/cyano/.  Please
    note that this site is still under construction.  Registration is limited to 130 participants.
    To facilitate accommodation of as many laboratories as possible, interested participants
    will be asked to pre-register, and those accepted will be notified electronically and
    sent registration and housing information. If necessary, the number of registrants from
    a single lab may be capped to allow as many laboratories as possible to be represented.

    We expect support from the National Science Foundation to aid a LIMITED
    number of student participants, and are seeking additional funds from corporate
    sponsors.

    DEADLINES:
    Pre-registration:                April 1, 1998
    Registration and abstract:  May 15, 1998
    Housing:                            June 12, 1998

    CONFERENCE COSTS:
    Registration:                          $  65
    Housing (Room and Board):  $235 (double occupancy)

  • PhD STUDENTSHIP

    Dr. Glen Shaw of the National Research Centre for Environmental
    Toxicology in Brisbane just received an ARC SPIRT grant to investigate
    formation of  byproducts from treatment of water containing cyanobacterial
    toxins and a toxicological evaluation of the treated waters. Glen is after
    a PhD candidate to commence early in 1998.

  • INVITATION TO SUBMIT

    This is an invitation to toxic cyanobacterial researchers to submit papers for a special issue of "Environmental Toxicology and Water Quality".

    The Journal "Environmental Toxicology and Water Quality" will be devoting a whole issue in 1998 to research into toxic cyanobacteria. Professor Ian Falconer (University of Adelaide), an Associate Editor of the journal has been asked to compile and edit the issue.

    The papers will be refereed in the usual way, and the Journal reserves the right to be selective.

    This message is an invitation to toxic cyanobacterial researchers to submit papers to Professor Falconer for consideration for this special issue, by the end of December 1997.
